19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
